New signing Chris Mueller believes he “belongs” at Hibs.
The American international has signed a pre-contract with the club and is due to arrive at Easter Road in January.
Talks have been ongoing to try and make the move happen this window but as things stand, he’ll make his Scottish Premiership debut in early 2022.
The wide man admitted he was excited about the possibility of becoming a Hibs player after speaking to Jack Ross, and revealed he’s felt from a young age he was meant to play in Europe at some point in his career.
“It’s been something that’s been worked on over the past couple of months,” he told Hibs TV. “I’d spoken with Jack a little bit as well as with some other people. I was just really excited about the whole thing.
“ Hibs came up as a club who had some interest and it really accelerated after that. They were really keen to try and get me over there. Seeing things about the city, about the club and supporters, I was really excited and decided to make it happen.
“It’s such a historic club with so much they’ve accomplished. I’m thrilled to be joining.
“As a kid growing up, I felt like I belonged in European football. Especially in Scotland and the UK, Hibs have a culture and a fanbase who really care deeply about the game.
“That’s where I belong, that’s what I believe I was meant to do; to go somewhere where they live, breathe and die football. That’s the way I live my life and I can’t wait to be part of it.”
