Chris Moyles hit on the head with a pint glass at The Courteeners show

A video shows the moment Chris Moyles was hit on the head with a full pint glass at the O2 Academy in Leeds, the city where the DJ is from.

The incident happened at a gig where the indie rock band The Courteeners were playing on Monday evening.

The group were performing as part of the Radio X Road Trip with Chris Moyles, hence his appearance on the stage.

The video, which was posted by an audience member on Twitter, shows the former Radio 1 DJ talking to the crowd before getting struck with the glass. It is not known whether it was a plastic or glass container.

The crowd are then heard cheering as the contents of the glass spills over the 41-year-old.

After the incident, a mixed opinion followed on Twitter.

Moyles begun hosting the morning show on Radio X, formerly XFM, in September.

He previously hosted the Radio 1 Breakfast Show for eight years, from 2004 to 2012. He was replaced by the X-Factor judge Nick Grimshaw.

A representative for Moyles was contacted by The Independent for comment.
