Chris Long believes Nick Foles should have some input into where he plays next

Just what the Philadelphia Eagles have planned for Nick Foles is anybody’s guess, but one of his biggest supporters and teammates believes the Super Bowl MVP should have a say in where he lands next. While in Atlanta for the Super Bowl and to pick up his NFL Walter Payton Man of the Year Award, Chris Long stopped by Pro Football Talk Live, where chatted with Mike Florio about his future, and how he sees the Foles saga playing out.

Long was honest and upfront, when telling Florio that Foles situation is unique because of his accomplishments and that the Eagles should work with Foles to jettison him somewhere that he’d prefer.

“Nick deserves the opportunity for input,” defensive end Chris Long told PFT Live last week. “I think it’s one of those unique situations where, you know, a lot of the times it is a business but this guy, undoubtedly. . . . I mean, they built a statue for him outside of the stadium. You don’t send him somewhere he doesn’t want to be or put him somewhere against his will. I think finding that sweet spot where he has some input and the team wins too if that’s the situation, I think everyone would respect that.”

A win-win for both parties doesn’t necessarily mean keeping Foles away from the Giants or Redskins. For the Eagles and GM Howie Roseman, the business of football suggest that placing the franchise tag on Foles at $25 million serves the Eagles best when it comes to compensation for the talented quarterback.

Foles delivering the Eagles a Super Bowl and his relationship with the city makes it imperative that the Eagles do right by him, but at what cost remains to be seen.
