Chris Hughton hopes Nottingham Forest's win over Blackburn Rovers served as a lift to the fans on two fronts.
The Reds were 1-0 winners at Ewood Park thanks to Joe Lolley's 90th minute deflected strike, giving Forest their first points of the season as they moved up to 20th in the Championship.
A first success in 12 games provides an obvious boost to fans after such terrible form on the pitch, but the manager also hopes victory gives supporters in and around the city with a welcome moment of escape as Nottingham deals with the worst coronavirus positivity rates in the country.
"Absolutely we hope it lifts people. We are very conscious of our supporters," he said.
"If you're the manager of this club or a player for this club then the area, irrespective of times at the moment, is important to you.
"We know there are a lot of supporters from Nottingham itself and the surrounding areas so we hope this win means a lot to them."
Forest were deserving winners over a Blackburn team which had started the season well.
The visitors suffered a blow after 50 minutes when Jack Colback hobbled off and was replaced by Harry Arter.
Hughton was unsure if Colback will miss the game against Rotherham on Tuesday night after he went off early in the second half. However, the injury is not thought to be serious with the former Newcastle man suffering a knock, rather than a muscle strain.
It perhaps should have been 1-0 after 62 minutes when Figueiredo's header from six yards bounced into the ground and straight into Thomas Kaminski's arms.
