Chris Hughton reveals Nottingham Forest team to face Watford

Boss Chris Hughton sprung a few surprises as he named his Nottingham Forest team to face Watford.

There was a return for defender Joe Worrall, who has been sidelined since September with a broken foot.

The centre-back was thrust straight into the starting line-up at the City Ground, as well as being handed the captain’s armband, with Scott McKenna believed to have been ruled out through injury.

And midfielder Cafu was included in the XI for his full debut, having previously only made one appearance since his summer move - as a substitute in the 1-0 defeat at Middlesbrough.

Cafu’s inclusion was one of four changes made by Hughton in a bid to arrest a three-match losing streak.

In addition to McKenna, Jack Colback also missed out through injury, while Sammy Ameobi and Miguel Angel Guerrero dropped to the bench.

It looked set to be a 4-3-3 formation for the Reds, with Worrall partnering Tobias Figueiredo in the heart of the defence, while Cyrus Christie and Yuri Ribeiro kept their places at right and left-back, respectively, ahead of goalkeeper Brice Samba.

Harry Arter also came back into the side, alongside Cafu and Ryan Yates in the midfield.

And Joe Lolley, too, returned to the starting XI, joining Anthony Knockaert and Lyle Taylor in what was set to be an attacking three.

There was again a place on the bench for youngster Will Swan, after his debut against Swansea City at the weekend.

Michael Dawson was also among the substitutes, having previously been out of action with a calf injury and yet to feature this season.

The duo were joined by Jordan Smith, Loic Mbe Soh, Ameobi, Carl Jenkinson, Alex Mighten, Guerrero and Nicholas Ioannou.

Forest: Samba, Christie, Figueiredo, Worrall, Ribeiro, Cafu, Yates, Arter, Knockaert, Taylor, Lolley. Subs: Smith, Mbe Soh, Ameobi, Jenkinson, Mighten, Guerrero, Dawson, Ioannou, Swan.
