Chris Hughton provides insight on challenges Nottingham Forest face in pandemic

Nottingham Forest boss Chris Hughton has given an insight into the challenges of trying to build team spirit during the coronavirus pandemic.

Social restrictions have made it more difficult for players to get to know each other outside of work, in the way they normally would.

And for a team which made 14 signings in the summer transfer window, those curbs can make it harder to integrate new arrivals.

Hughton says, in particular, it has not been easy for players who came to the City Ground from abroad.

"We're having to work with circumstances. It's been very different,” he told NottinghamshireLive.

"Even the opportunities to have team bonding aren't there.

“You don't have the chance for a few players, four or five of the single lads, to have a meal out.

"We're very much missing the normal parts of our football world, our football bubble.

"They're the normal things that happen. Even as regards the old-fashioned players’ night out, that's part of what we do.

"Players have missed it and it's probably harder for the foreign single lads that are over here when it comes to occupying their time."

Forest are next in action on Boxing Day, when they welcome Birmingham City to the City Ground.
