Chris Hughton pinpoints what his Nottingham Forest team need to do better after Swansea loss

Nottingham Forest boss Chris Hughton has said that his team have to capitalise when they have good periods in games.

The Reds lost 1-0 to promotion-chasing Swansea City at the City Ground in Sunday's early kick-off thanks to Connor Roberts' first-half header.

Forest were only able to create half-chances during the game, with Anthony Knockaert and Lyle Taylor both the closest to getting on the scoresheet but the Reds failed to really work Swans goalkeeper Freddie Woodman.

The result leaves Forest in 21st place in the Championship table, and it's a case of the same old story for Hughton.

Sean O'Driscoll on the reasons why Nottingham Forest lost to Bournemouth

"It's certainly a game which we shouldn't have lost, on the balance of play. Credit to Swansea, they managed the game very well, particularly after the goal, they defended well, he said post-match.

"But, it's probably a bit similar to how we've been, we had good periods of the game, very good periods of possession and also good periods of possession in the final third, but you've got to capitalise on that.

"We're just not showing enough at the moment in that final third to get the breakthrough.

"I think it's about making good enough decisions to be able to make those decisions to get that extra body in and at times just working that little bit harder to get into the box.

"And of course it's about just showing that little bit of quality to get into them areas.

"Anthony Knockaert's chance is probably the best chance of the game.

"At the moment there's a fine balance not to concede poor goals that put the pressure on us and to score, and at the moment we're not able to score the goals to alleviate the pressure."

The Forest boss also said that they'd have to wait to find out the extent of the injury suffered by Jack Colback in the first half, while revealing an injury boost ahead of Watford.

"To be perfectly honest, I don't know, my gut feeling is that's it's hopefully not too bad," he said.

"Jack's been a steady campaigner for us in recent games, so it's the last thing we probably wanted. In some areas we've got really good cover and a lot of options.

"Probably Samba Sow hopefully will be in full training tomorrow and that's another option we have in that position, but hopefully it's not too bad."
