Manager Chris Hughton says he will be as involved as possible as he outlined his role in Nottingham Forest's January transfer window.
The Reds can officially sign players from tomorrow, when they also go to Preston North End, as they look to start 2021 on a winning note.
Forest are keen to add creativity to their squad and while Hughton will not be negotiating contracts, he insists he will have a major input on signings.
"My involvement is very much about whether we want to do something, whether we can better the squad. If so in which areas," he said.
"Those are down to myself. Sometimes you are very happy with the squad you've got. You don't want changes.
"If we can improve the squad we will try to do so. I'll be very involved, but as regards the legal aspects, no of course not.
"I'll be involved as I can be though."
Forest signed 14 players last summer and have had been prolific in the transfer market since 2017, but Hughton has said he will not be making wholesale changes to his squad.
The Reds have six games in January, meaning the former Newcastle and Brighton boss is in for a busy few weeks scouting players on top of his normal duties.
"It's fair to say that for as busy as we are as managers in this division, it gets even busier in January," he said.
"You have the thought of what will happen in January. We have to investigate and cover ourselves, plus decide what we want to do.
"They involves watching a lot of videos of players on top of the normal opposition videos we have to go through."
