Nottingham Forest are close to signing Sheffield United defender Max Lowe on loan for the season.
It is understood that Lowe could sign in time to make his debut against his former club, Derby, this weekend.
Chris Hughton's side are yet to register a win in the Championship this campaign following defeats to Coventry City, Bournemouth, Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City.
Forest released two full-backs this summer, in Yuri Ribeiro at the end of last season and Tyler Blackett, who joined American club FC Cincinnati.
While Nicholas Ioannou was loaned out to Italian Serie B outfit, Como.
Left-back Gaetan Bong was also told he could leave.
Eventually, Forest filled the gap with Arsenal defender Jordi Osei-Tutu on loan for the 2021/22 Championship season, but he was forced off with a hamstring injury in only his second appearance for the club.
Forest will hope the deal does get over the line as Hughton's men face East Midlands rivals Derby County on Saturday.
Reds fans are confident about the latest news, as they have taken to social media to react.
@CityGroundShelf: "Taking away the chaos and dark clouds surrounding Forest currently. James Garner & Max Lowe would represent tidy business this week. More of the same in the final week of the window please."
@Willh1985: "So so hope this is true. Certainly for me the best we could bring in, in that position."
@Lewis_Bickley: "This is a signing I'd like to see. A position we need options in, a proven player at our level too. More of this rather than some unproven strikers please!"
@KaiNNFC: "Scenes when he puts him in for the Derby game and he bags."
@DNOnMAZ9: "Would be a great signing. Possibly even the chance of a permanent at the end of it. Doesn't seem to be in Sheff U plans. Absolutely priority signing."
