Hughton, Marinakis, transfers - the lessons you want Nottingham Forest to learn this summer

What a difference a season makes. At the business end of the Covid-hit 2019/20 Championship campaign, Nottingham Forest were on course for a play-off place and maybe even a return to the Premier League.

Then came a disastrous final-day home defeat to Stoke City that left their play-off hopes in tatters, and the Reds seem to have been struggling ever since.

A record of 12 victories, 16 draws and 18 defeats tells its own story of another wasted season on Trentside.

In fact, it was only a couple of weeks ago that Forest ensured they were safe from relegation, something unthinkable just a year ago, and could look forward to regrouping in the summer.

Of course, they will do that with a relatively new manager at the helm, and the appointment of Chris Hughton to replace the sacked Sabri Lamouchi last October could yet prove to be the high point of the past season.

Hughton has form when it comes to getting Championship clubs into the Premier League after success at Newcastle United and Brighton, and Reds fans will be praying he can complete a hat-trick with Forest.

Still to come is his first summer transfer window as manager, and with backing from club owner Evangelos Marinakis, he has the pedigree to transform Forest, even if players like young Manchester United loanee James Garner and the home-grown Joe Worrall could depart.

So after such a tedious 2020/21, Reds fans will go into the summer with the tantalising hope that something special might be just around the corner, given a fair wind.

But before then, we would like to record your views on the highs, lows, woes and unexpected surprises of Forest’s 2020/21 Championship campaign.

Take our in-depth Reds survey to have your say on what the club got right - and wrong - over the past few months, praise the players who thrilled you - and those that left you reaching for the TV remote.

After a few days, we will collate the results and then report back with your views on Forest 2020/21. If the survey doesn't show automatically, please click HERE to launch it.
