Nottingham Forest manager Chris Hughton has confirmed that James Garner 'is available' to make second Nottingham Forest debut in the Carabao Cup this midweek.
Garner re-joined the Reds on a season-long loan from Manchester United on Sunday morning and is eligible to make his second City Ground bow against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday.
His parent club do not enter the competition until the third round as a result of playing in European competition having qualified for the Champions League last season after finishing as runners-up in the Premier League to neighbours Manchester City, so there was no possibility of the midfielder being cup-tied.
Speaking to the club website about the 20-year-old re-signing, Hughton said: “We’re really delighted to have James back at the club."
“We’ve had the benefit of working with James for a long period last season and know exactly what qualities he brings to the side.
“It will also, therefore, be a very quick settling in period for him which is important.
“We are really grateful to Manchester United for allowing James to come back to The City Ground to continue his development.
“He’s player that made a very good impression around the club last season and we saw him develop on and off the pitch during that period."
The 62-year-old manager went on to confirm the loanee is in contention for the midweek cup-tie.
“He has trained with the squad this morning and is available for Tuesday’s match against Wolves at The City Ground”.
Garner made 20 appearances for Forest last season and was ever-present in defensive midfield after making his debut against Coventry City at the start of February.
