Chris Hughes thanked his girlfriend Jesy Nelson for a great birthday weekend getaway ahead of spending Christmas together.
The former Love Island star and his beau escaped to a luxury wintry cabin together just days before Christmas .
But the 27-year-old revealed to his 2.2million followers that his weekend bliss was ruined towards the end after he got food poisoning on their last day.
Taking to his Instagram story, Chris wrote: "Thank you @jesynelson for a great birthday weekend, and @ella_cast @chris_drake87.
"Thanks for all the bday wishes, today's been he worst. Food poisoning, well timed."
Last week, Jesy gave her fans a glimpse into their holiday as she showed off the lavishly adorned chalet-style lodge on her Instagram story.
The pop princess, 28, shared a series of videos with her 6.4million followers which showed her and Chris driving to their secret getaway.
Once inside the stunning estate, the couple could then be seen excitedly running from room to room.
Red and white balloons could be seen attached to a wooden bridge which led the way into the cabin.
Huge candy cane balloons were also blown up to give the cabin a festive feel.
Inside, stunning Christmas decorations filled the place which continued with the red and white theme.
The couple's getaway comes after Jesy admitted she wouldn't decorate a Christmas tree at her own home this year.
Jesy said it would be a lot of effort when she was planning on spending the festive season at Chris' home.
As well as it coming down to laziness, she confessed she's a Scrooge when it comes to Xmas.
Jesy revealed: "I'm a Scrooge. I'm just so lazy. I can't be bothered. I'm not at my house for Christmas this year so I think what's the point?
"It'll be sitting there all alone. No, but most of the time I'll be with Chris at his house. It's a lot of effort to put up a tree when I'm not going to be at my house."
