Chris Hughes 'gets axed' from huge Sports Relief event after brutal NTAs bust-up

Chris Hughes has reportedly been "axed" from a huge charity event after his brutal NTAs bust-up last month.

The reality TV star has been dropped from Sports Relief's The Heat Is On Challenge following the incident which raised eyebrows at the event, according to The Sun.

Former Love Island star Chris, 27, was originally included in the line-up but has since been removed.

Event organisers were ready to announce the star-studded line-up moments before Chris' brawl broke out with a photographer at London's O2 Arena.

However a spokeperson for Comic Relief refused to tell the publication whether Chris had been axed because of the brawl.

According to the news outlet, Sports Relief bosses contacted Chris within days to discuss his pending participation.

Celebrities including Nick Grimshaw, Judge Rinder and Frankie Bridge have flown out for the 100-mile hike which starts today, across a Namibian desert.

"The fact this incident occurred so close to the challenge meant there was always the risk it could be a distraction," a source told the publication.

They continued: "Chris' fight overshadowed his girlfriend Jesy Nelson's NTA win for her BBC Three documentary."

The challenge is set to air on BBC One in the run-up to Sport Relief on March 13 and was due to see celebs trek, skate and cycle across a frozen lake in Mongolia before a location swap last week amid coronavirus fears.

A Comic Relief spokesperson said: "There were plans for Chris Hughes to be involved, but he is no longer taking part."

While a representative for the star told The Sun: "Chris is gutted it didn't work out. It was a mutual decision and he has been invited to discuss future projects with Comic Relief."
