Chris Holtmann says he could still add to the 2019 recruiting class

Ohio State basketball has one of the top 2019 recruiting classes in the country. With D.J. Carton, E.J. Liddell, and Alonzo Gaffney, it’s a consensus top ten class and is the only one that has three guys in the top 36 of the ESPN 100.

But according to comments made by Chris Holtmann recently, he has stated that he may not be done adding to the class. Ohio State does have another scholarship to give, but you have to wonder where that would come from since most recruits have already made commitments and signed national letters of intent.

We could see perhaps another graduate transfer, or a reclassification of someone from the 2020 class like we saw when Musa Jallow reclassified from 2019 to 2018, but at this point, it’s anyone’s guess.

According to Adam Jardy of the Columbus Dispatch, we get this quote about adding to the three-player haul.

“We certainly could, and that could come in the form of another freshmen or it could come in the form of a graduate transfer,” Holtmann said. “That’s certainly a possibility. We’re, as we always are, actively looking at different possibilities that we feel good about. It’s certainly a possibility, for sure.”

So, keep your eyes peeled. It may or may not happen, but there seems to be at least a better than slim possibility that Holtmann still tries to mine for talent for 2019.
