Chris Hogan signs one-year deal with Carolina Panthers

Former New England Patriots wide receiver has found a new home with the Carolina Panthers after signing a one-year deal.

Hogan will be entering his eighth year in the NFL after spending three seasons in New England. He is one of the final free agents from the team to sign a deal, after spending close to a month on the market.

He was a valuable asset in his first two seasons with the Patriots, but his production slightly fell off in 2018. Hogan finished last season with 35 receptions, 532 receiving yards and three touchdowns. The numbers weren’t significantly lower than his previous two seasons, but he seemed to be disconnected from the team.

The most notable performance that he put up for the Patriots was against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Championship — where he racked up nine catches, 180 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

New England’s current depth at the receiver position consists of Julian Edelman, Phillip Dorsett, Bruce Ellington, Maurice Harris, Braxton Berrios and Damoun Patterson.
