Chris Hemsworth to undergo 'insanely physical' transformation to play Hulk Hogan

Chris Hemsworth has said he will have to undergo an “insanely physical” transformation to play wrestler Hulk Hogan in an upcoming biopic.

Speaking to Total Film, Hemsworth revealed the role will require him to bulk up even more than he did to play Thor.

“As you can imagine, the preparation for the role will be insanely physical,” he said.

“I will have to put on more size than I ever have before, even more than I put on for Thor.”

The newly-announced film will be a Netflix original directed by Joker director Todd Phillips and penned by Scott Silver.

Hogan, a 12-time wrestling world champion who also had acting and reality TV stints, will act as an executive producer on the project.

Hemsworth revealed the transformation will not just require muscle-building, saying: “There is the accent as well as the physicality and the attitude."

He continued: "I will also have to do a deep dive into the rabbit hole of the wrestling world, which I’m really looking forward to doing."

Hemsworth most recently starred in the Netflix thriller Extraction, which was reportedly one of the streaming service's most-watched original films.

The actor is also currently preparing to play Thor again in Thor: Love and Thunder, which will see Natalie Portman’s character Jane Foster pick up the hammer to become a female Thor.
