Chris Harris wants Malik Jackson to return to Broncos

The Jaguars plan to release defensive lineman Malik Jackson, allowing him to become a free agent right before the market opens next week. Broncos cornerback Chris Harris has thought of a good landing spot for Jackson: Denver.

Jackson (6-5, 290 pounds) was selected by the Broncos in the fifth round of the 2012 NFL draft out of Tennessee. He was a productive rotational defensive lineman during his time in Denver, recording 147 tackles and 14.5 sacks from 2012-2015.

After helping the Broncos win Super Bowl 50, Jackson left the team during free agency to sign a six-year, $90 million contract with Jacksonville (Denver signed Derek Wolfe to a four-year, $36.7 million contract).

Jackson recorded 105 tackles and 18 sacks during his three years with the Jaguars — better per-year numbers than he posted with the Broncos. Jackson’s numbers dipped a little in 2018, though, as he recorded just 32 tackles and 3.5 sacks.

Now that he’s a free agent again, Jackson will be looking for a team that needs to add reinforcements on the defensive line. Denver could certainly use more depth on the defensive line but it remains to be seen if the Broncos will have any interest in bringing Jackson back.
