Chris Gutierrez, Cody Durden make history in unanimous draw at UFC on ESPN+31

Chris Gutierrez and Cody Durden didn’t leave the octagon Saturday with a victory, but they did make a bit of history.

The two UFC bantamweights fought to a unanimous draw in the opening matchup at UFC on ESPN+31 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

The contest was hard-fought. Durden (11-2-1 MMA, 0-0-1 UFC) got ahead early, winning 10-8 on all judges scorecards, in the first round, by dominating from start to finish. Gutierrez (15-3-2 MMA, 3-1-1 UFC) then caught up wining the next two rounds 10-9 on all scorecards.

The decision became the first unanimous draw in UFC history without point deductions, according to MMA Decisions.

With this draw, Gutierrez is unbeaten in his past four bouts, while Durden undefeated in his past eight.
