Chris Eubank mugged hours after opening up on his son's death on ITV Good Morning Britain

Boxer Chris Eubank was mugged just hours after his emotional appearance on Good Morning Britain.

The former world champion said he was 'stunned' when his Louis Vuitton manbag was snatched from under his arm outside a bank in London on Tuesday afternoon.

He told the Standard : “I couldn’t believe it. I was stunned.

“He couldn’t have known who I was because he wouldn’t have tried it. He was just looking at the prize.

“It was over in seconds and he was down the road like a sprinter with a baton."

Scotland Yard said: “We can confirm that at around 1.30pm on Tuesday, October 12 police received a report of a bag snatch at Edgware Road, W2.

“The male victim was walking along Edgware Road when a bag he was holding under his arm was snatched. The suspect fled the scene on foot.

“No persons were injured. There have been no arrests.”

The 55-year-old had joined Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley in the GMB studio that morning for an emotional interview in which he opened up about the tragic death of his son in July.

Chris’ son Sebastian, 29, died suddenly when he suffered a heart attack while swimming in Dubai, just a month after becoming a father for the first time with his fiance Salma.

When asked by Richard about the death, he explained: “We have to be objective. What have I learned? What do I say that can possibly actually give people a view of a mindset you should have? I look at the life of Sebastian, and Sebastian was a true champion.

“I rejoice for my son. Sad? I’m on television now so I’ve got to be objective, so I’m not going to break down.

"There’s two views with my son: the physical, I will never get over. No parent can get over because you’ve invested all this time from birth to 29, all this time, all of this energy, all of this love and then he’s gone. You can’t recover from that.

“But the inner you, if you know the spirit world, and you believe in the spirit world, my son is with me. I rejoice.”
