Chris Eubank Jr faces Liam Smith this Saturday in Manchester, with 'Next Gen' hoping that a win can set up a big fight for later in 2023 with Billy Joe Saunders a potential opponent.
Smith, also known as 'Beefy' has stepped up to middleweight and will also be hoping to underline his own credentials as two former world champions meet at the AO Arena. There has been no love lost during the week, with personal comments from both fighters leaving both fighters apologising on Friday.
It is a well matched fight and is part of an exciting card, with former world champions and rising stars featured throughout. Co-main event Richard Riakporhe takes on former world champion Krzysztof Glowacki in a cruiserweight contest which could set up Riakporhe for a world title shot of his own later this year against WBO cruiserweight champion Lawrence Okolie.
Also on the card another two former world champions facing off, with Joseph Parker taking on Manchester's own Jack Massey who steps up from cruiserweight to heavyweight to take on the New Zealander. Olympic silver medallist also continues his fledgling professional heavyweight career against Kevin Espindola while Ekow Essuman and Chris Kongo fight for British, European and Commonwealth titles.
