Chris Eubank Jr reiterates plan to fight Jake Paul after Conor Benn jibe

Chris Eubank Jr would be willing to fight Jake Paul if he loses to Conor Benn.

Eubank Jr will take on one of the biggest challenges of his career when he meets domestic foe Benn in a bumper showdown at London's O2 arena on October 8. The pair will meet at a 157lb catchweight, with Eubank Jr looking to pick up a vital win before making a switch back to a world title challenge at 160lb.

The middleweight star claimed on Friday he would be "finished" if he lost to Benn, which saw his rival suggest that he should challenge YouTube star Paul as a last resort. Eubank Jr has now responded to Benn's claim, telling Mirror Fighting : "Of course to be honest I would love to fight Jake Paul it is free money. Sure I am a prizefighter."

The jibe has come after Eubank Jr recently made an attempt to secure a fight with Paul on social media, with his fight against Benn previously in doubt over a disagreement with weight. He posted on Twitter : "Yo Jake Paul. Once I deal with Benn and you take care of Rahman how about me and you go for a couple of rounds.

"I’ll come in at 160lb, you come in at whatever weight you want. Winner gets CANELO. And don’t worry I am not Tommy Fury, if I say I will do something, it gets done." Paul did not respond to the call-out but had already waded in on Eubank Jr's weight row with Benn, by using to compare it to his own weight discrepancy against previous planned opponent Hasim Rahman Jr.

Eubank Jr is coming to a pivotal moment in his career with a defeat against Benn potentially derailing his plans to challenge current middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin. His last fight came in a comfortable points win over Liam Williams back in February, and it will see him fight in a domestic dust-up for a second time.

The British star is relishing the opportunity and believes the fight would have been an execution if he was at his optimum weight. "I can't be 100 per cent when I have to go down to a weight I've never been to and then I can't rehydrate fully," Eubank Jr explained during a fiery press conference on Friday.

"That's fair, because if I'm 100 per cent, it's a public execution. I have to be at a disadvantage to make the fight reasonable. I'll be 60 per cent on the night and that will be enough to do whatever I want with you [Benn]. Yes, I am taking you lightly.

"I can't do anything else but take you lightly, I underestimate you because I know what I am, I don't see the pedigree and grade that people are giving you - maybe I'm wrong."
