Chris Eubank Jr asked to sign microwave by Geordie fan in Newcastle city centre

Chris Eubank Jr was left baffled on a visit to Newcastle this week when a Geordie fan asked him to sign a microwave.

The 32-year-old middleweight said he had "so many questions" when he was approached by a man carrying a microwave as he made his way back to his hotel on Thursday.

Speaking talkSPORT he said: "He just popped over armed with a microwave and said 'Chris, please sign it, I haven't got anything else'."

"There were just so many questions running through my head like where did you get it from," he added.

Eubank Jr was in the city as he is set to fight Wanik Awdijan as part of a BOXXER show at Utilita Arena Newcastle on Saturday, October 16.

Ahead of the event, he attended a press conference at St James' Park on Thursday.

And as he walked through the city centre back to his hotel, he was mobbed by fans.

While most fans asked for photos or signature, the fan carrying a microwave through town certainly caught his attention.

But Eubank Jr accepted the fan's request and marked the microwave with his signature.
