Chris Eubank Jr has revealed that he will become a father ahead of his upcoming fight against Conor Benn.
Eubank, the former WBA interim middleweight champion, takes on London-born Benn in a hotly-anticipated rematch at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday night.
The son of Chris Eubank Sr emerged victorious in the grudge match seven months ago, and the pair face off once more in north London.
Their fathers - Chris and Nigel - fought each other twice in two world-title contests in the 1990s.
Now, ahead of the two sons’ second bout this week, Eubank announced a big life update on his social media, accompanied with video revealing the news to his father.
“I want to start that next chapter in my life,” Eubank Jr told Eubank Sr.
“You’ve got two grandsons that are on the way.”
“Rastafari reach!” the former two-division world champion replied.
“I never thought about being a father for my whole life,” Eubank Jr continued.
“I want to be the type of father that my kids can come to me and talk about anything. I couldn’t do that with my old man.”
Hostilities have begun again on fight week, with Benn launching a weight jibe at Eubank, referencing his missing weight for the first fight. He was fined £375,000 as a result.
The bout will be contested at the middleweight limit, with a 10lbs rehydration clause.
