Chris Erskine back training at East Kilbride but no deal done yet, says boss Stevie Aitken

Chris Erskine has returned to training with East Kilbride, but boss Stevie Aitken admits no deal has been done yet to make sure the former Partick Thistle star stays at K-Park for the new season.

The 34-year-old had to undergo surgery in London in April after picking up a hamstring injury while on loan at the Jags, who took the attacking midfielder on with EK's 2020/21 Lowland League season cut short.

He is back on the pitch in light training as he eyes a return to action, however talks remain ongoing about a long-term commitment to Kilby.

Aitken told Lanarkshire Live Sport: "We are still talking to him.

"Nothing has been agreed yet. We had talks the other night, we will see how they go. Nothing is certain.

"He did the warm-up and some passing drills on Tuesday.

"When we upped the intensity he pulled out then.

"But credit to him, he's been up at K-Park every day training himself and seeing the physio.

"He's got a great attitude and that's why he's played at the top level all his days.

"Credit has to go to Partick. They got him his operation quite quickly and that always helps in any recovery.

"It's great to see him back."
