Chris de Burgh reveals cute nickname Rosanna Davison's daughter Sophia calls him

Chris de Burgh has revealed the cute nickname his young granddaughter Sophia calls him.

Chris spoke to RTE today about life at home, and he joked about performing for his grandchildren over lockdown.

He said: "My only audience for all that 590 days is Rosanna, Wes, Diane, my wife and the three little ones.

"It’s wonderful singing to babies because they’re just looking at you. And for really happy songs.

"And Sophia, who’s two, she can’t say Grandpa, she calls me “Bam Bam”.

Chris also spoke about the devastating effects the pandemic has had on performers and the entertainment industry as a whole.

He revealed: "It’s not just about me this whole thing, a friend of mine said recently it’s like a wrecking ball that’s gone through our entire industry.

"It’s not just the artists that are suffering so badly, it’s all the professional people.

"The people who can put up the rigging, the lights, the sound guys, they’re all highly skilled. They can’t work either. It’s been a rough time but I’m still singing."

Christ daughter, Rosanna Davison, and her husband Wes welcomed Sophia through surrogacy.

Rosanna has since been extremely vocal about the matter, advocating for parents' rights and the challenges faced by parents who have children via surrogacy.

In October, Rosanna opened up about the heartbreak she feels as she is not recognised as Sophia's legal mother.

This came after it was reported that the Government planned to only legislate for domestic surrogacy in an upcoming bill. Rosanna and Wes flew to the Ukraine to meet Sophia.

In an emotional Instagram post, the model wrote: "Surrogacy is physically, mentally and financially draining. It’s usually the last/only option for an individual/couple to have a child.

"This will affect 100s of children and families across Ireland, including my own. Sophia & many other children will be left legally vulnerable and unprotected."

She continued: "The heartbreaking reality is that I’m not legally recognised as Sophia’s mother like I am to my twins, yet I am her biological mother. I can apply to be her legal guardian from age 2 to 18, but after that I’m a legal stranger to her."
