Chris Daukaus vs. Derrick Lewis targeted for UFC Fight Night on Dec. 18

Chris Daukaus is getting his biggest UFC assignment to date.

The rising UFC heavyweight contender is being targeted to take on former UFC title challenger Derrick Lewis at a UFC Fight Night event on Dec. 18. The location for the event has yet to be determined.

MMA Junkie confirmed the news with multiple sources following a report from ESPN.

Daukaus recently fought at Saturday’s UFC 266 event in Las Vegas. He defeated Shamil Abdurakhimov via second-round TKO to improve his latest winning streak to five in a row and move to 10-1 in his past 11 bouts. Daukaus joined the UFC in August 2020 and since has notched four consecutive stoppage victories. The 32-year-old won “Performance of the Night” bonuses in his past three outings.

Meanwhile, Lewis is looking to get back in the win column after having come up short in his interim title fight last month against Ciryl Gane in the main event at UFC 265. Lewis entered the championship fight on a four-fight winning streak.
