Chris Coleman sacked by Chinese Super League side Hebei CFFC

Chris Coleman has been sacked as manager of Chinese Super League side Hebei CFFC.

Former Wales boss Coleman, who led his country to the semi-finals of Euro 2016, becomes the first coach to be fired in the 2019 campaign.

His dismissal was announced on social media on Wednesday, with the club, having picked up just one win so far this season, languishing in the relegation zone.

Coleman, 48, spent less than a year at the club after replacing Manuel Pellegrini.

But it was a time of constant struggle for the ex-Sunderland boss.

It took Coleman six games to register his first win, with Hebei ultimately finishing sixth in last year's Super League - a disappointing finish for a side who had hoped to book a place in the Asian Champions League.

This term, they sit 15th in the 16-team league with just five points from nine games after losing to Henan Jianye at the weekend.

They have also already exited the Chinese FA Cup at the hands of Chongqing Lifan.

Fans had turned against Coleman earlier this month, being shown holding a banner that read "Hello Mr. Coleman, please go home! You're fired!!!" during the CSL match between Hebei and Henan Jianye.

Under Coleman, Hebei managed just seven victories in 30 matches, leading to his dismissal and subsequent replacing by caretaker coach Xie Feng

Xie will oversee the team's next fixture on Sunday against Tianjin Teda.

Coleman is now expected to return to the UK to eye potential opportunities, following his Far East sojourn.
