Chris Carson thinks he and Rashaad Penny can be a top rushing duo

Chris Carson recently revealed that re-signing with the Seattle Seahawks felt like the right decision and went on to say that Russell Wilson played a role in keeping him around. However, Carson also stated that his fellow running back Rashaad Penny wanted to continue playing alongside him and tried to convince him to stay as well.

“Besides Russ, Rashaad was one of the big recruiters trying to get me back,” Carson told reporters last week via Zoom. “Everybody knows he’s like a brother to me.”

Carson and Penny are heading into their fifth and fourth years in the NFL, respectively. The former has been particularly productive over his career so far, although Penny has missed more time due to injuries. Carson believes that the two of them can be one of the best rushing duos in the NFL if they can stay healthy.

“If we stay healthy, I think we can be one of the top rushing duos in the league,” Carson said. “We both bring different things to the game, different attributes, but we complement each other so well. I just feel like his limit is ridiculous once he starts getting his feet wet in the game. I think it’ll be something special.”

Indeed, Carson and Penny remaining healthy will be crucial to the success of Seattle’s rushing game in 2021. Hopefully, they’ll both see extensive playing time.
