Chris Cadden transfer latest as Hibs close in on Columbus Crew star

Hibs are closing in on a permanent deal for Chris Cadden.

Columbus Crew look set to release the Scotland midfielder to allow him to return home.

Record Sport broke the story on Boxing Day that Hibs wanted to sign him and the Easter Road outfit now look set to beat Oxford United, where Cadden had a spell on loan, to his signature.

The 24-year-old is keen to get his career back on track after limited game time with the Major League Soccer champions.

Jack Ross hopes to get a deal agreed this week.

Crew controversially signed Cadden from Motherwell last summer and the Fir Park side have still to agree compensation with the US team.

Hibs head of recruitment Graeme Mathie has already said he hopes to make signings over the next couple of weeks.

A goalkeeper now looks a priority after Queens Park Rangers recalled Dillon Barnes.

Boss Ross: “Dillon goes with our best wishes and I’d like to thank him for his contribution.

“He’s been a well-liked member of the group, whose attitude has been first class. He has performed well when he’s had the opportunity to play – especially in our recent game at Ibrox when Ofir Marciano missed out through injury.

“However, we understand the desire for regular football.”

Dillon said: “I’ve loved every minute of my time at Hibs. It’s been a great experience all-round.

“I’ve learned a lot that I’ll take with me. I hope the boys have a great second half of the season.”
