Chris Burke in St Mirren transfer option as Kilmarnock face fight to keep veteran star

St Mirren are weighing up a move to keep Chris Burke in the Premiership.

The Buddies are keen on the veteran winger, who is set to come out of contract at Kilmarnock.

Killie boss Tommy Wright has held talks with the 37-year-old and has indicated he wants to offer to keep him at Rugby Park.

Burke will then consider his options but the lure of a return to the top-flight could prove key.

Jim Goodwin believes the winger, who has been one of Killie’s top performers, would be a valuable addition to his squad.

Livingston are also interested in the former Rangers and Scotland player Burke.

Kilmarnock were relegated after the play-off defeat to Dundee.

Wright released a number of players but has indicated he wants to offer deals to Kyle Lafferty, Ross Millen, Mitch Pinnock, Greg Kiltie, Calum Watters, Tomas Brindley and Kyle Connell.

Kirk Broadfoot is also considering his future.

The experienced defender also has Premiership interest but Kilmarnock are also keen for him to remain.
