Chris Brunt to Stoke City? Former Northern Ireland star tipped for move

Former Northern Ireland star Chris Brunt could be reunited with Michael O'Neill this summer.

Stoke City are understood to be in pole position to sign Brunt following contract talks.

The 35-year-old will become a free agent this summer when he is released by West Brom.

Brunt spent 13 years at the Hawthorns but is now preparing for a fresh challenge.

He came close to joining Stoke in January, but the Express and Star say he is still likely to move to the bet365 Stadium this summer where he would link up with his former international manager.

It is understood that talks have taken place over a 12-month contract with an option for an extra year depending on appearances.

Brunt's January move fell through when Bruno Martins Indi's exit failed to materialise.

Speaking in February, Brunt said of the his stalled move: “I was gutted to be fair.

"Obviously there is an easy link there with Michael being Northern Ireland manager.

"I’ve made no secret of the fact that I enjoyed playing under Michael and the impact he had.

“He got some of the best football out of me in my career - 100 per cent internationally but definitely football wise as well.

"And the opportunity to go and work with him again would be something I would have enjoyed.

"And the chance to go from a club where everyone knows everything about me into another one where people know everything about you as well probably played the biggest part in it."
