Chris Bosh: Warriors merit dynasty moniker more than Heat

NBA History is on everybody’s minds these days as we approach nearly two months on the current NBA hiatus due to the coronavirus. Our collective sports focus has also been on history than in large part to “The Last Dance” 10-part docuseries about Michael Jordan’s final season with the Chicago Bulls.

Cleveland Cavaliers star Kevin Love reflected on his own Last Dance with LeBron and the Cavs, while Chris Bosh also is reflecting on his own runs to the NBA Finals with LeBron James and the Miami Heat from 2011-2014. However, Bosh doesn’t believe that the Heat was the dynasty of their time, because that moniker is more deserved for the Golden State Warriors from 2015-2019.

“I was thinking about our place in the history of the game and all that stuff,” Bosh said, according to Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. “I even think the Warriors had more of a dynasty. I think ours was, you know the band Cream, from the UK? We’re more like Cream.”

Cream was a psychedelic rock band from England fronted by Eric Clapton that was only together from 1966-1968, mixed in with a couple of reunions later on. Basically, even though LeBron named the team the “Heatles,” Bosh’s analogy is that they were a great band but not quite the Beatles. With the Warriors winning three championships in five years, including five straight NBA Finals, it’s impossible that they didn’t have a better dynasty than the Heat. The Warriors 2017 playoff run also stands as the best in playoff history, with only the 2001 Lakers in the neighborhood, including only one loss in four seven-game series.
