The Oakland A’s extended their win streak to five games with a 5-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday night.
A five-run, four-walk inning and a sterling performance from Chris Bassitt propelled the A’s to the win.
Jed Lowrie started the big fourth inning by collecting the A’s first hit against Diamondbacks starter Jon Duplantier. Lowrie would reach base again that same inning, but against reliever Alex Young with the fourth walk. In between, the A’s loaded the bases and Sean Murphy walked in a run, Chad Pinder and Matt Chapman hit RBI singles and two more runs scored on Elvis Andrus’ walk and a failed double play.
Pinder came in for Seth Brown in right field after three innings and had a three-hit game.
Chris Bassitt rebounded nicely from his short outing against the Seattle Mariners, allowing two runs over seven innings. Christian Walker hit a home run off his hanging slider in the second inning.
Former DH Khris Davis was designated for assignment by the Texas Rangers on Tuesday. Davis was one of the most potent home run hitters in baseball during his A’s tenure, but spiraled after colliding with a fence playing in the outfield in Pittsburgh in 2019. The A’s traded Davis this offseason along with Jonah Heim for Elvis Andrus and cash. Davis has spent most of this season in Texas on the injured list.
