Choudhury, Kamara, and transfer frustration as Newcastle fans say the same thing on deadline day

Frustrated Newcastle United fans have given their verdict following an underwhelming deadline day.

Talk of moves for the likes of Cameron Carter-Vickers, Hamza Choudhury, Boubacar Kamara failed to materialise in any senior incomings on Tuesday.

Steve Bruce had outlined his hope for one or two loan deals to strengthen his squad, with central defence and midfield considered the priorities.

United confirmed the arrival of Mexican prospect Santiago Munoz on an initial 18-month loan, with the Santos Laguna forward joining the Academy.

However, the re-signing of Arsenal midfielder Joe Willock on a permanent basis turned out to be the only senior addition at St James' Park this summer.

Reports indicated talks over a move for Choudhury had 'broken down' on Tuesday evening, with a loan fee and wages said to be a stumbling block.

The Athletic also claim an offer was made to Marseille for Kamara, but the 21-year-old chose to turn down interest from both the Magpies and Wolves.

It proved to be a characteristically quiet deadline day for Newcastle, and supporters took to social media to express their frustrations and relegation fears following a poor start to the season.

Here is how Newcastle United fans reacted at the conclusion of transfer deadline day:

'Cut and paste'

'Empty'

'Everyone has improved apart from us'

'Fear for us'

'Massive gamble'

'Rinse and repeat'

'Waste of a football club'

'Zombie club'
