'Chosen one' - Transfer rumours persist over Nottingham Forest defender

Speculation persists linking Nottingham Forest defender Yuri Ribeiro with a move to Olympiacos.

As with Reds teammate Tiago Silva, rumours of a potential move to the club also owned by Evangelos Marinakis, in Greece, have swirled throughout the summer.

Greek media outlet SDNA claim there is still interest in Ribeiro as Olympiacos look to bring in a left-back before the window closes.

They say Brazilian Matheus Reis, of Rio Ave, is their primary target but it is proving difficult to get a deal over the line.

The fact the Portuguese side face AC Milan in the Europa League on Thursday means “it will be very difficult for developments to take place earlier”.

And that has seemingly left Olympiacos to explore other targets.

Liverpool teenager Yasser Larouci is said to be one name “mentioned”, along with Ribeiro.

The report states, “in the end the 23-year-old Portuguese of Nottingham Forest may be the chosen one”.

Previously, it was understood there was no truth in the rumour Ribeiro was set to make the move to Greece.

He has featured once in Forest’s three Championship games so far, though, with Tyler Blackett taking the left-back spot against QPR and at Huddersfield Town on Friday night.

And on Friday, the Reds signed Nicholas Ioannou, who can also play in that position.
