Chorizo sausages sold at Coles recalled over E. coli

Sausages sold at Coles supermarkets have been recalled over E. coli contamination.

Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) warned customers not to eat Hans Spanish Chorizo 250g with the expiration date December 1, 2017, bought at Coles stores in Queensland and New South Wales.

"The recall is due to microbial (E. coli) contamination," FSANZ said.

In a statement, Hans Smallgoods said customers could return the product to the point of purchase for an immediate cash refund.

"This recall is being undertaken to ensure the safety of our customers as part of our ongoing commitment to maintain the highest standards of safety and quality at all times. We apologise for any inconvenience," it said.

The company said any customers concerned about their health should seek medical advice.

It said none of its other products were affected.
