'Chomping at the bit ' - Injury update on Nottingham Forest starlet Ryan Yates

Ryan Yates has handed Nottingham Forest and manager Sabri Lamouchi a boost ahead of Sunday’s trip to Wigan Athletic.

The Reds midfielder has missed the opening weeks of the season through injury, after going under the knife in the summer in a bid to cure a knee problem.

As the Forest squad prepared for the weekend’s trip to the DW Stadium, Yates was back on the grass as Lamouchi put his players through their paces after a well-earned rest during the international break.

Yates, who is highly rated by Forest, featured in Wednesday’s training session at the Nigel Doughty Academy, as he looks to fight his way into Lamouchi’s plans after a blistering start to the Championship campaign for the Reds.

That job looks far from an easy task for the 21-year-old, given the form of the Reds midfield this season, and speaking last month, Yates said he was eager to get back playing following his injury lay-off.

“I was gutted as I started pre-season really well,” he said.

“It was a long-term knee problem that I had that needed to get sorted out.

“It seems like it’s been ages since I last played so I am chomping at the bit to get back out on the grass and get with the lads again.

“Obviously, it is about using this time to work on things that I couldn’t work on before and I feel like I will be coming back in a better place and fighting for the shirt again.”
