With Chris Hardwick returning to host AMC's "Talking Dead" after an investigation into his behavior, ex-girlfriend Chloe Dykstra says she's moving on _ saying that was her intention from the beginning.
Dykstra, who dated Hardwick for three years, wrote the essay in June that, without naming the Nerdist co-founder, set him up for an onslaught of professional scrutiny after she alleged emotional and sexual abuse, followed by blacklisting.
"I have been adamant since I came forward with my essay that I never set about to ruin the career of the person I spoke about," the actress and TV personality said Thursday on Twitter.
"I could have provided more details, but chose not to. I have said what I wanted to say on the matter, and I wish to move on with my life."
Hardwick and Dykstra dated from 2012 to 2014. In 2016, he married Lydia Hearst, daughter of Patty Hearst, and the two are expecting a child together. His wife and other exes, including Janet Varney, stepped up to defend him during the debacle.
"Our three-year relationship was not perfect _ we were ultimately not a good match and argued _ even shouted at each other _ but I loved her, and did my best to uplift and support her as a partner and companion in any way and at no time did I sexually assault her," Hardwick said in a statement in June.
He was replaced by Yvette Nicole Brown on a "Talking Dead" special scheduled to air Aug. 5, and he stepped aside from hosting 2018 San Diego Comic-Con panels for AMC and BBC America.
The network, which reinstated Hardwick as the host of "Talking Dead" and "Talking with Chris Hardwick" on Tuesday, said there had been "a comprehensive assessment by AMC, working with Ivy Kagan Bierman of the firm Loeb & Loeb, who has considerable experience in this area."
Dykstra didn't participate in AMC's investigation, she said, but rather shared her evidence only with those she "felt should see it." Her regret? That she hadn't been able to have a private conversation with the person she wrote about, presumably Hardwick, she said.
"With the circus moving out of town, I intend to focus on the subject I originally wanted to shed light on: emotional abuse," she wrote Thursday, saying she intended to work with RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) and other support groups for victims of emotional abuse.
