Derek Chisora and Kubrat Pulev went to war for a second time on Saturday night and, unlike six years ago in Munich, the Londoner was awarded a split decision victory. With the 38-year-old desperately needing a victory inside the 02 Arena, Chisora went to work on the Bulgarian’s body in the early rounds, all while withstanding huge shots himself.
After 12 rounds, Chisora won 116-112, 116-112, 116-114 to claim a morale-boosting win, though one he admitted could be his last in the sport.
“I think I last won a fight three years ago. It’s been... listen...,” he told DAZN.
“It was hard. Pulev’s a great fighter. I’m happy today. At the same time, I’m sad.
“I don’t have many left in me, but what I have, I’m gonna give it all to you guys.
“I don’t have many left. I don’t want easy fights. I told Eddie [Hearn] the other day, if you can get me the ‘Bronze Bomber’ [Deontay Wilder], I’ll be happy.”
