Chippy wedding for bride and groom who celebrate with fish suppers and milkshakes

Newlyweds Natalie and Keith Convey held their wedding dinner at the chippy.

The happy couple toasted their big day with milkshakes and tucked into fish and chips with family and friends.

They opted to celebrate at their favourite cafe after their plans were cancelled twice because of coronavirus.

The chilled out pair reckon they saved a small fortune when they were forced to scale back plan, with the whole day costing less than £1,000, the Daily Record reports.

The Paisley couple tied the knot at the town registry office then headed to Allan's on Storrie Street.

The 20-strong wedding party was a far cry from their original plan to invite 150 guests to a more traditional do.

But mum-of-two Natalie insists it turned out to be the perfect day.

She said: "I think there is so many couples in a complete panic over their big days getting ruined because of coronavirus.

"We just went with the flow and it was the best day we could have hoped for.

"We had fish and chips for our meal and milkshakes and sundaes for desesert.

"It was absolutely perfect. So laid back and everyone was really happy.

"We done the whole thing for under £1000. It was a bargain as well."

Natalie and Keith were supposed to get married in front of 150 of their loved ones, however lockdown rules cancelled their plans.

The pair, who have been together for five years, then organised their wedding again for a smaller crowd at a local restaurant, shortly before it was forced to close because of new hospitality guidlines.

Natalie added: "At first it was just one thing after another. Nothing seemed to be going right in the beginning. That was the second wedding we had planned that was just cancelled."

After searching for a new venue for several days, Natalie said it was her step-dad Ian who suggested holding it at popular chippy Allan's.

She added: "After all the cancellations and restrictions we were calling around for two days trying to find somewhere that would accommodate 20 people with enough space to social distance.

"It was my step-dad Ian who actually suggested Allan's and they were absolutely fantastic.

"I couldn't talk more highly of them.
Natalie said taxi firm Gryffe Taxis in Linwood sent a chauffeur driver mini bus to take them to wedding.

She added: "At first we couldn't even get a car to take us to the registry office due to the restrictions.

"Then we contacted Gryffe Taxis and they said they could help.

"They didn't even charge us for the bus which was unbelievable.

"We couldn't believe how kind they were."
Natalie said the only regret the couple have is not having all their loved ones by their side.

She said: "It was an absolutely perfect day honestly. The only thing we wished is that we could have had more people there. There were a few key members that were high risk that couldn't take the chance of coming."
