Chippy introduces 'delicious' new salt and pepper dish and people love it

A Merseyside chippy is serving its customers the ultimate salt and pepper treat.

Salt and pepper chips, chicken wings, and a whole host of other items are as Scouse as they come.

A firm favourite in chip shops and Chinese restaurants across the region, it is believed salt and pepper chips originated from Chinese chippies in the mid 1990s.

As demand for the dish heightened, restaurants and takeaways began to add offerings like salt and pepper spring rolls, ribs and even salt and pepper kebab meat to their menus.

One chippy has just launched salt and pepper fish fingers - and they've already gone down a storm.

Sea Breeze Fish Bar in Maghull serves five battered cod salt and pepper goujons for £6.

Owner Fehmi Yilmaz told the ECHO he fancied some fish 'salt and peppered' and thought he would give it a try.

Fehmi said: "It tasted amazing. I gave it to the staff who also liked it, so we decided to put it on the menu on Thursday evening.

"That night we sold ten portions.

"People really seem to like it."

Fans of the Moorhey Road chip shop were quick to comment on a Facebook post introducing the new dish.

One wrote: "That's our tea sorted"

Another said: "Omg actually drooling"

A third wrote: "I tried these last night and I'm actually scared for how addictive they are."
