'Chip shop paper' - Manager's emphatic response to Nottingham Forest transfer gossip

Rumours linking Nottingham Forest with a move for Crewe Alexandra defender Perry Ng are nothing more than “chip shop paper”.

Manager David Artell has dismissed speculation that the Railwaymen’s 24-year-old right-back is being eyed up as a replacement for Matty Cash at the City Ground.

Reds head coach Sabri Lamouchi has already said he is happy with his options in that department and would not be looking to sign anyone for that role.

He has Tendayi Darikwa and Carl Jenkinson available, while academy product Jordan Gabriel gave a good account of himself on his first start for the club at Barnsley last weekend.

And Artell has poured further cold water on any transfer gossip suggesting Forest are keen on his captain.

“It is to be expected when a club sell their right-back, because we have a very good one in Pez,” he told the club’s website.

“That is just an assumption and I don’t know which chip shop that has come from.

“It is chip shop paper to me.

“I have heard nothing from Nottingham Forest. Not even a whisper and whoever made up that story should really concentrate on battering his fish.”
