Chippy's brutal reply to customer who left scathing one-star TripAdvisor review

A scathing one-star TripAdvisor review prompted a brutal response from a defiant chippy owner.

Allan Aston, owner of Al's Plaice, Winsford, told the user that "spiteful people like you are not welcome" in his shop.

TripAdvisor user 'Rick W' branded the chippy "pathetic" claiming the wait for his fish supper became intolerable and he was usurped in the queue, Cheshire Live reports.

Rick said: "[After] waiting nearly 30 mins, I noticed a customer who came in 15 mins after me being served with a fish. I challenged the server only to be told, quote, 'She had forgotten about me', unquote!

"Bearing in mind I'm 6' tall, wearing an orange coat and stood in front of the serving area. To say I wasn't happy would be an understatement.

"I was then told I would have to wait a further period as the same server had not informed the fryer that more fish were required.

"I asked for my money back. No apology , just muttering from the bunch behind the counter. Pathetic.

"Needless to say I won't be buying from Al's Plaice again and I urge you not to either. Businesses like this, do not deserve your business."

In reply, Allan Aston, founder and owner of Al's Plaice, launched a brutal tirade.

He said: "You down right nasty man...are you so perfect in your job that you can criticise blatantly to everyone.

"We are all human and yes the member of staff made a mistake but is there any need to stand in your oh so high castle top shouting to the world, for every one of you there are a hundred that would disagree so I really do hope your statement makes you so happy in your perfect little world and I am actually grateful you won't be coming in again as spiteful people like you are not welcome".

'Rick W' actually left a highly complementary five-star review of Al's Plaice two years ago, in which he praised the "Great taste" of the chippy.

Rick said: "Called in for a quick lunch with my wife, we opted for a special of Fish, chips, peas, bread & butter and a cup of tea.

"All for under £7 really good value. We were served by a really friendly waitress and the food was served fresh, hot with a plentiful amount. Very tasty too. Overall good value tasty food with good service to boot. Highly recommend."
