Chip Kelly talks to 49ers as DeSean Jackson says 'karma' led to coach's exit

Chip Kelly has spoken to the 49ers about the vacant coaching position in San Francisco, as former Eagles star DeSean Jackson presented his own theory about why Kelly was fired from Philadelphia: karma.

Kelly, according to ESPN, met with the Niners on Thursday about the possibility of taking over from Jim Tomsula, who was fired on Sunday night. Buffalo Bills running backs coach Anthony Lynn is also in the frame, as is Cleveland offensive coordinator Jason DeFilippo.

Kelly was fired by the Eagles after finishing with a 6-9 record in 2015, and Jackson, the Washington wide receiver who was released by the coach in 2013, had a simple message: what goes around comes around.

“When you ruin a team like that, you do things to peoples’ families, you release people, you trade people, you get rid of good players who build something with the community, with the fans, with the kids – to have a guy come in and change up the team like that, I just believe in karma,” Jackson told The MMQB.com.

“I don’t have any bad words to say about [Kelly] as far as what he feels he needs on his roster. But the guys that were on that roster created something special, from Jeremy Maclin to LeSean McCoy to Trent Cole to Todd Herremans and myself and Brandon Boykin – it goes on and on and on. When we were there, we were a brotherhood. So for everyone to go their separate ways and to see how it all ended up, it’s a very sad thing.”

Jackson spent six seasons in Philadelphia. In his two seasons with Washington, Jackson has 86 receptions for 1,697 yards and 10 touchdowns.
