Chip Caray, a St. Louis Cardinals broadcaster, had an emotional reunion with his son Chris in Oakland on Monday night. Both father and son were set to handle play-by-play duties for their respective clubs. Chris, in his first season with the Athletics, shared his excitement about following in the footsteps of his family members who have a rich history in broadcasting.

Chris, along with his twin brother Stefan, previously worked together in the booth for the Amarillo Sod Poodles, the Double-A affiliate of the Diamondbacks. They honed their skills at that level and gained valuable experience in preparation for their current roles.

Chip expressed pride in his son's ability to bring his unique style and flair to the broadcasting world, emphasizing the importance of being authentic and not trying to emulate others. He highlighted the significance of Chris finding his own voice while carrying on the family legacy.

The Caray family had been eagerly anticipating the opportunity for Chris to call a game involving the Cardinals and A's. The timing worked out perfectly, with Chris handling the series opener at the Coliseum. His mother, Susan, was present to witness this special moment.

Reflecting on the family's broadcasting legacy that dates back to 1945, Chip marveled at the fact that his son, at the age of 24, was already making his mark in the major leagues. Despite the emotional nature of the occasion, Chip joked about the only downside being seeing his son in A's green.

As the Carays continue to make their mark in the broadcasting world, Chip expressed his excitement for the future of the family business and the unique contributions that Chris will bring to the industry. The father-son duo's shared passion for the game and dedication to their craft was evident as they prepared to work together in the booth.
