Chinese students in Glasgow targeted in fraud attack

Glasgow North West Police have issued a warning to Chinese students being targeted by fraudsters in Glasgow.

The scammers are posing as fake law enforcement officers and contacting Chinese students based in the city.

Groups are then using what police describe as an 'elaborate rouse compelling the victim to transfer large sums of cash'.

Investigations are currently ongoing into the reports.

Police have warned students across the city not to transfer cash unless it is to pay for goods or services bought by you.

A spokesperson for Glasgow North West said: "Police are investigating reports of Chinese speaking fraudsters, purporting to be from law enforcement contacting Chinese students with an elaborate rouse compelling the victim to transfer large sums of cash.

"Do not transfer cash unless to pay for goods/services bought by you."
