Song Jiang: Chinese fugitive on the run for 17 years is arrested after being found in cave

Chinese police have arrested a fugitive who had been on the run for 17 years

A fugitive has been arrested after 17 years on the run when police used drones to find his cave hideout.

Song Jiang, 63, was jailed for trafficking women and children but escaped from a prison camp in 2002.

Yongshan police searched mountains near his hometown in Yunnan province, south-west China, after receiving a tip-off that he was hiding out there.

Drones spotted a cave on a hillside with household rubbish nearby.

He had used plastic bottles to get drinking water from a river, and made fire from tree branches. He has been sent back to jail.
