A Chinese football commentator has been sacked after falling asleep and snoring while live on air.
According to ITV, Dong Lu, who worked for LeTV, was commentating the Champions League match between Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, played on Tuesday evening.
The time difference between the game at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium in Madrid, and Beijing — where Mr Dong, 45, was commentating, reportedly meant the pundit’s coverage was in the early hours of 03.45am.
Loud snoring could be heard during the 78th minute of the game, which ended with a 1-0 win for Real Madrid.
Mr Dong reportedly apologised and said he would continue analysing football matches through his blog.
He apparently has 20 years’ experience of commentating football matches, according to the Mail Online.
The match saw Real Madrid qualify for the last 16 of the tournament after Nacho scored in the 35th minute.
The team will play Shakhtar Donetsk on 25 November.
