Chinese delegates visit cutting edge Hull laser firm Luxinar

Delegates from China recently visited laser manufacturer Luxinar for a look around its state-of-the-art East Yorkshire facility.

Members of the Guangdong Laser Industry Association called in at the manufacturer, based at the Bridgehead Business Park in Hessle, as part of a Europe-wide tour of laser suppliers.

The ten delegates were shown around Luxinar’s production, engineering and service departments, as well as learning more about ongoing research and development innovations.

Luxinar rebranded from Rofin-Sinar last month, and produces industrial CO2 lasers.

Andrew Chambers, sales director at Luxinar, said: “More than 35 per cent of laser sources from Luxinar are now installed at manufacturing and production sites in China.

“The visit from Guangdong Laser Industry Association is an ideal opportunity for us to demonstrate and reassure that although our company name has changed from Rofin-Sinar UK to Luxinar, the products, technology and people behind the new brand remain the same.

“We continue to manufacture the same high-quality products and continue to support our Chinese customers locally.

“We have supported our Chinese base for 20 years within China, and have recently enhanced our capabilities from our regional office, now based in Shanghai for the last two years.”

The delegates, mainly executive directors and general managers, were from a variety of manufacturers within the Chinese laser industry, including the largest laser chiller and laser cutting head suppliers in China and laserfair.com, the most popular newsletter in the Chinese laser industry.

The group toured the manufacturing facility that has, over the last 20 years, become renowned for its industry-leading sealed CO2 lasers and power supplies that are used for a myriad of applications in industrial processing and marking applications.

Continuing to operate from its purpose-built manufacturing facility at Hessle’s Bridgehead Business Park, Luxinar employs more than 180 people – both in the UK and overseas.

It also has operations in China, South Korea, Germany, Italy and the USA.

Rofin-Sinar was originally founded in 1998. Today, its lasers are used in the automotive, aerospace, packing and electronics industries.

The company’s rebrand to Luxinar came into effect on June 25.

Klaus Leitner, managing director, said: “This is a really exciting time for our company as we move into our next chapter, building on our proud heritage to drive further innovation in the laser industry as a proudly independent business.

“While our name has changed, the core of our business remains the same. Our products are some of the most technologically sophisticated in the world, and they exist because of the people at the heart of Luxinar.”
