China unveils 'Super Great White Shark' helicopter prototype - and it looks like a UFO

China has unveiled a prototype for its latest ‘armed helicopter’ - and it looks just like a UFO .

The vehicle, dubbed the ‘Super Great White Shark’ by Chinese media, is said to be designed for the ‘future digital information battlefield.’

The Super Great White Shark is 7.6 metres long, almost three metres high, and has room for two people on board, according to CNN .

Their report explains: “Schematic drawings show its outer shell covers rotors and engines, which would presumably give the helicopter stealth capability because any sharp angles would be covered, making it harder for radar to detect.”

A prototype for the vehicle was put on display at the China Helicopter Exposition in Tianjin last week, although it remains unclear when it will actually take to the skies.

This isn’t the first time that a UFO-like helicopter has been suggested.

Back in the 1950s, a similar vehicle was proposed by Canadian firm AV Roe, dubbed the VZ-9 Avrocar.

However, the design proved ineffective during tests, in which the vehicles became unstable when going more than one metre off the ground!

The VZ-9 Avrocar could also only reach top speeds of 35 miles/hour, making it significantly slower than most helicopters, which can reach top speeds of around 160 miles/hour!

It remains unclear when, or if, China’s vision will come to life, or how much it costs.
